Airsoft News Piece Tonight on Kgun9

Postby KileyHAZ on Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:32 pm

Just interviewed with KGUN9. They are doing a piece on the problem airsofters in Tucson and wanted TACs take on the situation. Hopefully I presented us in the manner we so desire and how we stand against irresponsible use. Assuming they don't butcher the footage it should present us as responsible champions of our hobby with a hardline stance on the irresponsible users (adult or minor).

Its supposed to air at 10pm and then will be online on kgun9.com

Same ^

Heres my question, who are the "problem airsofters"? And what kind of terror and mischief could they possibly be causing people? Or is it just the liberal media trying to make us look like terrorists and minutemen, and make sure every nosy granny and 911 happy soccer mom are making sure that kids stay inside and sit on their asses, smoke weed and play video games?

"Problem airsofters" my ass, unless someone is going around shooting random people with an airsoft gun the problem I can imagine airsofters are causing is that their getting out and getting some exercise, having fun, and people don't like it for some reason.

Sorry, had to let off some steam!

It wasn't too horribly negative. Could have been portrayed much better with some better information. It could have been much worse than they portrayed it. Great job Kiley representing our sport!

The real jist of the article was the TPDs stance on it and how mom and dad "john Q public" see it in their neighborhood and freak out. I think he did a good job at including that responsible owners are on the same side as the police. He really cut short our interview footage though, there was 15-20 minutes of demonstration, explanation, and other Q&A. Kevin and the cameraman seemed like they would not be adverse to playing so maybe I can get them out to play with us off record one day.

Their information on the orange tips is somewhat misguided.

The federal government requires air gun manufacturers to add a bright orange tip to their products to help show that's what they are, but owners sometimes remove that tip.

The orange tips are federally required for shipping, not for the end user to keep. The only time an orange tip is required is if there is state or local law stating so.

I am glad that at the end of the video they state that TPD and us are promoting the same thing.
