8.29.09 TAC Meeting Notes

Postby PhaedrusZen on Sat Aug 29, 2009 6:26 pm

Current Business:
  • Decided by vote that there will be no modification necessary to current FPS rules for gas operated guns.
  • The TAC Board is organizing a Tribunal to help ensure a high quality is maintained at all TAC events. The Tribunal will be headed by AZsworst, the TAC S@A, and two other TAC members in good standing, not associated with the current board. Details will be forthcoming as they are available.
  • Decided by vote to adopt a discipline system referred to as "The Matrix" to ensure fair and unbiased response by the TAC board to any issues on the forum or field that may arise. Details forthcoming soon.
  • The next TAC meeting will be scheduled for October 24th.
  • The TAC board is still in the process of selecting a treasurer. A decision is expected prior to the next TAC meeting.
  • Decided by vote to adopt a general TAC policy of using armbands at games. Purchase of duct tape and markers was approved, and the supplies will be made available for use at games. Armband use is encouraged, but still at the discretion of game admins. There will also be a developing system for using number identifiers for players on each team. Those details will be announced as they are available.
  • The TAC XO and CO will be developing this year's charity events. These events will be announced as details are available.
  • Discussion about possibly printing and distributing/selling TAC stickers. No action at this time. We will continue to look into the cost/benefits associated with these items.
  • We will be deferring the discussion about participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program for now. Currently the program is not offering signs for participating groups.
  • There will be a number of changes to the TAC membership application as well as the general waivers. These will include an addition of lines for printed names as well as associated TAC forum screen-names on both forms and an addition of emergency contact/ medical info on the general waiver. We are also instituting an age verification process; a valid license or other identification will need to be displayed when turning in any paperwork that is returned without a parent/guardian signature. In the near future, we will be requesting all players to turn in a copy of the updated waivers/ applications to ensure we have complete records. Further details will be announced when this is ready to roll out.
  • There will currently not be a change in policy regarding any games with lower age limits. We did discuss the possibility of games hosted by players not able to attend these games (generally 17 and under), with an associated TAC board member as a sponsor. This topic may be revisited if needed.
  • Discussion regarding games with a focus on new players. Nothing official at this time; "noob" games will be held at the discretion of any players wishing to host such an event.
  • Decided by vote that watches (or another time-keeping device) will be made mandatory at games, as the majority of respawn rules are time sensitive. This will ensure a fair game for all involved, as well as facilitate start/end times and hopefully eliminate any confusion. An announcement will be made when the rules are updated.
Open Floor:
  • Discussion regarding vehicles and how we choose to govern their use. A committee was selected to develop a comprehensive set of standards which will dictate the acceptable use/approval of vehicles at airsoft events. It was decided during the initial discussion that drivers must be a minimum of 21 to be considered for approval as a vehicle operator. The committee consists of Bio, Striker, Buddha and Quadro. There will be a follow up at the next meeting.
  • Discussion about any active "recruiting" or advertising for TAC. Currently TAC has business cards which will be made available for those who are interested. There was some discussion of possibly speaking with the VFW or other potentially interested groups about the sport and the TAC organization. No actions taken. This may be revisited as needed.

*Waivers and TAC membership papers have been updated per request. Please review and submit any change requests to me.

*Time telling devices added as required equipment under the rule 14a
14a. All players are required to have a time telling device on their persons at all times during an event. This is now required equipment. This device can be a cell phone , however, a wrist watch is recommended. The device can and should be used for complying with respawn timers and start/stop times of events when times are announced.
