I have done this with several of my guns but more recently with my CA25's. Unfortunately it turned out to be a windy day so I need to go back out and do it again. Even with a mild wind my CA25 is good to 200' with .28's. My M4 is good to between 150-175 with .28s and can easily lob them past 200' with a fps of only 300.

What hop up are you using in your M4?

Its the stock CA hop-up unit with a Madbull Blue bucking and nub and a Madbull TB.

Both Elephant Type 89
365 FPS with .20's accurate to about 120'(6/10 on a 2' x 2' target)
had to move the target back, estimated distance with an average stride of 3'

338 FPS with .25's accurate to 150-180' depending on wind. (7/10 on same size target)
tested on a gusty day, but on breaks in the wind hit a target measured to 158feet from firing point.

330-335 FPS with .2
Tested range up to 150 feet. Very accurate, I plan on getting a rifled barrel once I get the measurements.
I own it completely stock. The hop-up appears to be made of aluminum. The scope has almost no eye relief, and there is no visible way for me to remove it and use the iron sights. The gun itself is reasonably solid, except that when extended the stock freakishly affects accuracy over 150 feet. With the cap on the handle properly tightened it is an extremely comfortable to hold, and even the first time I picked it up I was very comfortable with it.

Overall I say it's not a very good buy. Definitely not worth the $220 I found it for. I'm going to move to the new JG/AGM M16 the minute I can afford it.
