To both agree and disagree, if you've been taught how to see properly in the dark, it doesn't matter what color the gun is. You need to break up the physical outline of it, along with your head, shoulders and armpits. Black is just popular because the human attraction to the unnatural, such as it's got more shock factor to have guys in all-black kick your door in and shoot you than dudes in jeans and t-shirts. Hence why guns are very often black.

well, it proved its worth last weekend; i was sittin in a tree with my ghillie suit on and the Opfor didn't even see where i was in the tree till they got about 5-8 feet close to me.

besides a lot of the vegetation in NW is actually really straight. so thats what i was going for and it worked.
