Noob question... FPS Reduction

Postby Accordian on Thu Mar 04, 2010 5:29 pm

Hey all, sorry for the noob question. i'm not entirely positive the answer, so i figured i would ask here :)

Anyways, i'm looking into getting a new gun. the one 'm considering is http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=31966. First and foremost, what are your opinions on it? it says it shoots 440-480 fps and that's a bit high... if possible, what all needs to be done to bring that down to tac acceptable levels? Will a spring by itself be enough? if i get a different spring, what else needs to be done? will there be any wear and tear caused by doing so?

thanks!

edit: oops, linked the wrong gun, lol

IF it actually shoots that high, then a smaller spring would be all it takes to reduce the FPS below 420.

Chances are that it will shoot in the 415-430 range, in which case it will be within TAC limits once you set your hopup.

You're very welcome for the quick response.

Answer is still the same.

To Reduce FPS, all you need is a new spring.
Get the gun and chrono it before you decide to buy extra parts for it though.

Hi im Midnight from Task Force 520. I'm new to the forum but not airsoft. That sig556 is Cybergun, same as soft air. They put trades on alot of thier guns and overprice them often. I'm not sure about that specific one, but its some kind of china clone. Probably not 420+ fps, more like 400. Looks good, but you may want to consider an Echo1 or G&G sportline, as those are the best aeg's under $200 i've seen.

I'm not sure if Midnight has any experience with this gun, or JGs/Cyberguns/that like.

The new JGs often shoot well over 400, reaching in excess of 440 on occasion. They usually break pretty quick though.

Yes, alot of the new JGs are advertised as 440+ but they more likely chrono at 400, i've seen this first hand. And if that thing does shoot 440+ i recommend installing a new spring, like an M110 or M120.

I've seen them chrono 450 out of the box.

They wear down to much lower FPS very quickly though. The springs aren't quality and don't hold the FPS for very long.

recommend any sites? only saw the Sig 556 made by JG and that cybergun between evike and airsplat.

when you say break, is that meaning something with the gearbox that can be fixed/replaced, or does taht mean the entire gun is garbage?
