L85 piston spacer...

Postby pastormark_m on Sat Nov 08, 2008 10:02 pm

Hi

I noticed on the other site that Beanns2 made a 10mm piston spacer so the L85 can used a standard piston. I am wondering if he is still making them and how much to buy one if I end up getting an L85

Thanks

God bless...

The spacer is only needed if you are getting the ARMY or G&G L85. It should not be required for the ICS L85. Also the space is just to make it easier to repair. So its more of a need when something breaks. The spacer allows for the use of standard gears and tm type piston bodies.

Hi,

Yeah, I looking to get the Army L85 and as soon as the warantee is up I want to put in an element m135 spring and a 650mm 6.03 barrel, so I need to go to the TM piston and gears from what I hear to make it relaible. I actually have an element 200% torque up set I can use with the m135, I just need to get the spacer to complete the deal.

Just curious, any one know what my rate of fire would be with the 200% torque up, m135 and the stock motor and stock 8.4v in this gun? I am also thinking of eventually putting in a 9.6v or even a 10.8v if I can get all the cells in to get the ROF back up. How do I figure the voltage increase vs increase in ROF? (I know there has to be an equasion I can use) :-)

Thanks

God bless...

I own a G&G L85, with a Guarder sp110,I shoot 410 FPS w/.20's.If you install a M130 you would most likely go over the FPS rule for an AEG.

Wow 410 w.20s! Man that is fast. I do think that when I put the 640mm 6.03mm barel which that long slows the fps some. I am actually going to use an element m125, so with the long barrel and the spring, I hope to hit the 400fps or so. (My jg aug witht he same barel and spring shot about 370-390fps, so I should be close)

I have a set of element hilical 200% TORQUE Up gears that I was going to use, but are the gears in the Army gear box custom, or will the element set work?

Thanks

God bless...

The barrel, if Im not wrong should increase the FPS a small amount not Decrease.
Primary- G&G GR-16 carbine (M4A1)
Back up- Echo 1 G36C
Secondary- KWA G23F

Yes in general tight bore barrels will increase FPS. Now for the instance of the 640mm length barrel you might need to get a bore-up kit. This is due to the standard piston has to small a volume of air to push the BB through the barrel with out running out of preasure at the end. That along with the M125 I am pretty sure will put you well over the limits and into sniper FPS range.

The G&G and Army have a PSG1 size cylinder in them, its longer than a standard AEG cylinder.I'm not sure if a bore up kit is available for this weapon?.
Some times a barrel that is to long will slow a bb down, because of the resistance the bb encounters travailing against the air that is in the barrel.
370 -390 with a M125 seems to be a bit low for a spring of that size.Your barrel might be a bit to long or you could have an air leak problem,
I have an AK that shoots 425 w/.20's with a Guarder SP110
I have seen a M120 reach FPS's of 485-525 w/.20's before break in.Barrel is in the 400mm range i think. This weapon will out distance most snipers.Air seal must be perfect in this gun.
I have a M4 with a Guarder SP 110 that shoots 396 w/.20's.That's with a bad hop up chamber.
A longer barrel isn't always the best thing to do.The 509mm barrel that is in the L85 is long enough.
But its your weapon and experimenting is a fun thing.

Hi,

So I got the L85 today, and it is a well built cool setup. I am deffinately going to go with an upgraded piston and spacer here soon. I also may add a high performance motor. It looks like it is a Long type motor but does anyone know for sure? Also is the cylinder head compatible with version 2 type, or is it something different?

God bless...

Hi,

So I am curious about the size of "bore up" pistons and cylinders. The stock piston stripped out already and I noticed that the stock piston is 23.39mm (.920 in) and the stock cylinder is 23.94mm (.942in)! So this piston head is not keeping the piston down far enough to stay in contact with the teeth on the sector gear! Its like the stock cylinder is a bore up size already. So does anyone with a bore up piston and cylinder know the exact size of it so I can make sure that is what I need before I order one? (Does anyone have a bore up piston to sell? ) Is the Army L85 piston head and cylinder head the same as the Version 7 gear boxes ?

Thanks

God bless...
