Safety, Selector Switch Trouble

Postby Friendly Fire on Thu Jul 23, 2009 6:13 pm

My Selector Switch only works on the "Auto" Setting. The Semi is completely "Safe"

Sometimes the Semi works but with a loud click. The Selector switch is tightened down all the way. and the Selector plate on the outside of the gearbox isn't broken. Any ideas?

There could be something in the contacts of the selector plate or a contact has gone bad.

This is my guess as well, contact is tweaked. Could be fixed with a small screw driver if its just an alignment issue. Anything else will probably require a new wire harness.

The contact seems to be fine. The problem is in the piece that sits infront of the trigger. It moves up and down as the selector plate moves back and forth. The problem is physical. The trigger literally wont move unless in AUTO.

Can I take that piece infront of the selector plate out and sacrifice the SAFETY? Will the gun still work without the phsysical safety?

your return spring for the safety lever is weak and not pulling the lever all the way back.you will have to pull the box apart and remove the whole safety lever unit,or get a new spring and retain safety.
Yes your gun will work with out it,but no safety, may not be a good thing.

i agree with bio, the spring can be replaced or taken out, without the spring in place, the selector switch wont "Click" into place, be a little lose.

I had that problem with my AK the other day, and all it took was a lil force to move the external switch's placement on the internal parts back to the correct location, and now it works fine.
