Can I give Molle a bath?

Postby PhaedrusZen on Fri May 08, 2009 4:23 pm

Hey, I just scored a tactical vest and a ton of pouches and stuff. By the time I got it all put together the way I wanted, I wound up with two eyes almost swollen shut...the guy who gave them to me must have rolled around in cat hair or something  So... can I throw a molle setup in the washer as is, or do I need to take everything apart first, OR do I need to pull it all apart and hand-wash everything. It's all second hand, so it's already worn, but does anyone have any ideas? I did try googling it, but the military types don't seem to be keen on posting up the care of their gear/products. :|

Yup I checked...no tags about care. I looked at the Blackhawk and Cpndor sites too. I ended up pulling it apart and scrubbing it all down to make sure I got whatever I was allergic to out of the gear.

If its coverd in Cat hair, I have cats so I know! Use tape to pick up any hair, and then a soft brush, on heavy soil. secure any zippers, and close any velcro straps.
Place the item inside a pillow case, secure it shut with a zip tie or string. I use woolite, but simple luandry detergent will work. set the Machine to cold, gental and run it.
Remove from Case and hang in warm dry spot (not in direct sun light).
If your cat Peed on it.. add 1/2 cup white Vinager to wash...... repeat if needed,

I'll see if I can post pics up, but it's a Blackhawk vest with way more pouches than I'll ever need, some Blackhawk, some Condor and some Tactical tailor; but I'm a gear-head, so I'll probably have them all hanging off me anyway. I also have a lighter setup that I might switch to. We'll see what happens.
