A&K M249P

The following review was submitted by Claton about the A&K M249 Paratrooper...

I was quite impressed with this weapon's initial quality as a Classic Army clone.  Externally, the body is constructed in top quality aluminum (excluding the heat shield and handguards), leveling out the L.M.G at a hefty 13-14 pounds. The removable externals are completely accessible by a set of hex keys. The removable externals consist of both sights, the feed tray cover, the bipod, the 2 pc. gas block, the stock, the handguards, the trigger, trigger guard, heat shield, carry handle, and the grip. Once the box is delivered you will find an 8.4v NiCad 1100 mah small type battery. This battery works smooth for it's initial placement in a SAW. A few modifications are required to house a Li-Poly or large type battery. A small type nunchuck battery can fit in the handguards also. The fuse is pretty fragile, so be careful when removing the gearbox " I'd recommend a 32 amp fuse." The mechbox is very easy to remove (both barrels must be reemoved before dismantle), similar to removal of the Star M249 models. 3 hex key screws must be removed, along with the charging handle. Wait!!! before you just pull it out, the fuse either must be disconnected, or the hand guard lock is blocking it's passage. Once the mechbox is removed it can be accessed by star head screw drivers. Optics are recommended if using this best in the field. My recommended optics: a 4x20 ACOG sight, or an EoTech holosight (551 or 552). It can use any m4/m16 magazines, but originally includes a 2400 rnd auto-wind or sound controll box mag. The only design flaws seen in the mag, were the hair-like wires operating the load mechanisims. ROF on this badboy racks up an ok 950 rounds per minuite. Purchase of this product is most affordable on airsplat.com, for 252$ flat.
